Cricket -> A Gentleman’s game??

Cricket was widely deemed to be a gentleman’s game. But, is it really a gentleman’s game any more? Some say Yes. Some say No. This has always been a controversial topic to discuss on. Times are gone since, Cricket was played just for fun. Players like Sir Don Bradman, WG Grace were amateurs and they also had other profession apart from cricket to spend the rest of their life. But, now, the present generation of cricketers play just for money alone and there are very few players who play just for the team. I dont say that it is wrong on the part of the player. But, this has caused the players to lose their true passion for the game. Now, the spirit of sportsmanship is completely lost and there are very few teams which play the game with true spirit and I am really proud that India is one of them. But, the sad thing is that the teams of great caliber like Australia, England and Pakistan have always been examples of setting up bad sportsmanship. Being the World champions, Australia have been one of the worst teams with regard to playing with the spirit of the game. Yesterday’s match at Sydney was one such example. Kumble was justified in telling that, “Only one team played the game in true spirit and we know who.” So, the final verdict is that Cricket is no more a gentleman’s game.
